Poli Industria Chimica S.p.A. is an Italian private company which operates in the pharmaceutical field, producing drug substances by fermentation and synthesis in its 30.000 square meters facility located in Rozzano, Milano. Poli has a deep expertise in the manufacture of immunosuppressants by fermentation since the 90’s. A new plant started operating in 2004 in a 1500 square meters facility and has allowed the company to implement a new generation of immunosuppressants, such as Sirolimus and analogues, along with a wide family of steroids for hormone replacement and contraceptives. These new products have been added to Cyclosporine production, neuromuscular blocking agents as well as Ergot Alkaloids which are manufactured since the 70’s. New R&D laboratories have been equipped to study high potency active ingredients in total security. R&D Direction also includes the Analytical Development facilities which are equipped to survey new products and to carry out their chemical-physical characterization through the most modern analytical technologies. A Quality Assurance service oversees all the industrial activities in order to fulfill GMP requirements. New investments have been devolved to increase capacity and to respect the environment by installing waste water treatment and solvent distillation plants. Sales are consolidated, despite the competition from new countries and currency constraints. The cash flow of the Company is able to support the continuous improvement with goal to be more present in the international market both for sales and joint ventures.
